Top Secret Magazine, P.O. Box 270324, 50509 Cologne (Koeln), Germany,
Tel and Fax: 49-221-175755. $28 (Europe) or $42 (USA) for four issues;
published twice a year.
Since 1988 Top Secret has been the international English edition of
Geheim Magazine. Each issue is about 36 dense pages, and over half of the
articles deal with the CIA and U.S. covert activities. The magazine tries
to identify and name CIA officers posted abroad. They openly solicit
names of U.S. diplomatic personnel from their readers, and apparently
check these against NameBase and other sources to find CIA officers under
diplomatic cover. How long can it be before old Stasi files on the CIA
show up in the magazine? Another favorite topic is Africa; lists of South
African security personnel have also been published.
In his spare time editor Michael Opperskalski has written several
books: in German in 1982 with co-author Guenter Neuberger, "CIA im Iran"
and "CIA in Westeuropa," in German (and later Spanish) with Neuberger,
"CIA in Mittelamerika" (1983), and in German with Kunhanandan Nair, "CIA:
Club der Moerder -- Der US-Geheimdienst in der Dritten Welt" (1988). They
are published by Lamuv Verlag GmbH, Duestere Strasse 3, D-3400 Goettingen.
