The New Right Humanitarians. 1986. 66 pages. $5.95 from the Resource Center.

When Reagan's contra supporters were faced with the fact that most Americans never bought their line, they responded by throwing millions of dollars into a massive lobbying effort. Corporations were funding think tanks, evangelists were shipping materiel to Honduras, and one rich widow even bought a helicopter for the contras. The CIA, NSC, and the State Department skirted the law and actively encouraged all of it. This booklet names the most conspicuous groups and individuals involved in the efforts.

The Inter-Hemispheric Education Resource Center, founded in 1979, is a nonprofit research and policy institute with a full-time staff of five. The Resource Center specializes in Central American development issues and U.S. policy. They also track the many private and quasi-private organizations and religious groups, as well as the interlocking network of conservative personalities behind them, that emerged in the U.S. during the Reagan years. Write them for their publication list.
